Tibetian New Year-No cause for Celebration
Monks left their morning prayer at the Rongwo Monastery in Qinghai
Province on Losar, the Tibetan New Year. Many Tibetans boycotted New
Year celebrations, and used the day to mourn and pray for the Tibetans
killed or injured in the March 2008 crackdown.
The ceremonies marking Losar at the monastery were ones of mourning,
not celebration. "There is no Losar," one monk said, referring to the
New Year as a somber moment to remember the Tibetans killed in the
March 2008 uprising. See the full gallery on posterous
