Mumbai Marathon -2009
Mumbai runs for peace and change
Mumbai back on its feet again after 26/11 with 25,000 people running
the marathon for a better , safer city.
Kenya's Kenneth Mungara ran a well-paced race to win the Mumbai
[Images] marathon in a record time of 2 hours 11 minutes and 59
seconds on Sunday morning.
His timing eclipsed countryman Daniel Rono's record of 2:12.03
seconds, set in the 2006 edition of the event.
David Tarun, also of Kenya, finished second in 2:12.02 seconds, which
was also inside the record, while 2007 and 2008 winner John Kelai
placed third in a timing of 2:12.03 seconds.
The US $250,000 prize-money event saw 150 elite foreign athletes,
including 52 women, taking part in the full marathon that attracted
