Melting Glaciers
Global Warming: A very true reality as seen by the pictures of the
melting glaciers!
Glaciers around the world are retreating at unprecedented rates as
temperatures rise due to climate change. Some ice caps, glaciers and
even an ice shelf have disappeared altogether in this century and many
more are retreating so rapidly that they may vanish within a matter of
decades.

Film; Encounters at the end of the world
Director Werner Herzog filming Encounters at the End of the World on
location in Antarctica with cinematographer Peter Zeitlinger.
In the Oscar-nominated documentary, Herzog journeys to Antarctica's
McMurdo Station to find out what it is that drives its 1,000
inhabitants to want to live and work in this remotest of glacial
landscapes.
The set of Herzog's latest movie was one of the most inhospitable
locations he has worked on. Previously, he has scaled volcanoes,
suffered calamities in jungles on three continents and filmed in war
zones; even so, he says, there was something elementally terrifying
about the reality of a working day in Antarctica.
Herzog's Encounters is a portrait of a harsh environment and the
people who live there - research scientists, philosophers and
vulcanologists.
Herzog was invited to film on the southern icecap by the US agency the
National Science Foundation, which offers a limited number of grants
to artists.
He proposed using a two-man crew - a cinematographer, plus himself as
soundman - which meant he saw off a rival proposal from Titanic
director James Cameron, who wanted to take a crew of 36.
There are the expert divers who drill 30ft vertical holes through the
icecap to access its frigid, sci-fi underside, and then dive below to
film. "These people only seem odd because when you look at the media
and magazines, there is this kind of uniformity of people. Down there,
you have characters who do not fit into magazines"
It takes a film-maker truly dedicated to extremes to travel to
Antarctica, but Herzog's films have never been for the faint hearted. See the full gallery on posterous

Supercool Tree Houses
Tree Houses- Any Takers?
If you thought you’ve outgrown your treehouse, guess again. Those who
appreciate modern architecture with an unconventional twist will want
to plan their next trip to North-West Germany, where you’ll find this
contemporary treehouse perched between an alder and an oak in
Osnabruck. Designed by architectural firm Baumraum, a company
specializing in tree-top dwellings, the treehouse stands out with its
curved roof and many windows. Although this modern home carries a
totally sophisticated design, it still boasts those traditionally
playful elements that make it a true treehouse – a rope ladder, plenty
of outdoor deck space, and of course, nature-inspired interiors. See the full gallery on posterous
Susan Boyle - Singer - Britains Got Talent 2009 (With Lyrics)
47 Year old Susan Boyle wows the judges with her performance in the auditions for Britains Got Talent, singing I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables.
Here are the Lyrics-
I dreamed a dream in time gone by
When hope was high,
And life worth living
I dreamed that love would never die
I dreamed that God would be forgiving.
Then I was young and unafraid
When dreams were made and used,
And wasted
There was no ransom to be paid
No song unsung,
No wine untasted.
But the tigers come at night
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hopes apart
As they turn your dreams to shame.
And still I dream he'll come to me
And we will live our lives together
But there are dreams that cannot be
And there are storms
We cannot weather...
I had a dream my life would be
So different from this hell I'm living
So different now from what it seems
Now life has killed
The dream I dreamed.

Jerusalem-Blessing of the Sun
Devout Jews around the world on Wednesday observed a ritual performed
only once every 28 years, saying their morning prayers under the open
sky in a ceremony called the "blessing of the sun." Tens of thousands
of worshippers stood next to the Western Wall in Jerusalem's walled
Old City, the holiest site where Jews can pray. Hundreds headed to the
ancient desert fortress of Masada, while others prayed on the roof of
a Tel Aviv high-rise and congregated on road sides. The prayer came on
the eve of the weeklong Passover festival, in which Jews commemorate
the exodus from slavery in Egypt. The timing was coincidental, but
added to the joyous feeling felt by many worshippers. See and download the full gallery on posterous
